If You Were Me and Lived in Kenya

“So now you see, if you were me, how life in Kenya could really be.”

If You Were Me and Lived in…Kenya is an entry in the educational “If You Were Me and Lived In…” book series. It takes young readers on a journey through this country in Africa.

Beginning with a highlighted map pinpointing Kenya’s location, the book is followed by pages of geographic, cultural, and historical information, as well as descriptions of local foods (such as nyama choma), activities (visiting the Maasai Mara National Reserve), and other aspects of living in this wildlife-rich region.

If You Were Me and Lived in…Kenya offers an interesting look into living in this area, and the colorful, detailed illustrations are detailed and informative. The pronunciation page at the end of the book, helping readers familiarize themselves with some Kenyan words and names, is priceless.

How wonderful it is that young readers are not only entertained by this series of books, but also educated about so many diverse cultures. Kudos to the author for providing young readers this educational book series and awakening an appreciation for this grand world we live in.

This cultural awareness series is recommended for young explorers who are curious about the world. The engaging and edifying books make unique gifts and constructive additions to any child’s bookshelf.
