You're the One That I Want

I felt a myriad of emotions reading this story. Anger, sympathy, joy, amusement, suspense… Wow. That’s the sign of a great author.

Sometimes the plans we have for life are set off course. Sometimes we have no idea what path we are on until God directly places us where we’re supposed to be. And sometimes this place is at a new beginning.

Susan May Warren has completed the Christiansen Family series with, You’re the One That I Want. It’s a lovely story of crossing paths, having faith, facing adversities, and braving new beginnings. I know that’s a lot of ‘stuff’, but this book is cram-packed with content.

Owen Christiansen’s life has been set off course, in a job far from the one he’d hoped—on a crabbing boat. He is broken, and attempting to make things right in his life. Perhaps getting to know the captain’s daughter could put the pieces together.

Good grief, how long had it been since he’d held a woman in his arms? He knew exactly how long. Remembered every sordid, regrettable detail. But that was different. He was different—or trying to be. ~quote from chapter one

Elise Scotty McFlynn (the captain’s daughter) is a gritty, beautiful, cop. She finds herself in a deep predicament, and is literally saved by Owen. When Own needs her help, will she be there for him?

His blue-eyed gaze had the power to steal her words out from under her. Yes, the man screamed trouble, right here, on the high seas. ~quote from chapter one

The Christiansen family and their supporting cast plays like a movie in my head. This story touches the heart and shows the importance of faith and forgiveness to free ourselves. This series centers on love, faith, family, and following God’s plan.
