On days like this—when sunlit snowflakes fell like tiny, glistening jewels and a crisp quiet brushed through the cold—Amelia Bentley could almost believe she’d never led another life. ~Chapter 1
Because I didn’t read the first book in this series, I worried Like Never Before, by Melissa Tagg, might be difficult to sink into, but I quickly grew to care about the characters. I love the premise of trying to save a small newspaper from being swallowed up, and Amelia is easy to sympathize with.
I love small town stories. They deliver a nice pace and a feeling of home. That’s not to say the story pacing is slow. There is plenty of excitement, intrigue, mystery, and romance throughout. The story lagged just a bit in the middle (for me) but I never lost interest or curiosity.
The romance is cute and gave me a cuddly, goosebumpy type feeling. Logan is a sympathetic widower and his little girl adds depth to this story. With a nice blend of romance and faith, this hometown tale is a great read.
