…He hung the sun and moon up high, made fish that swim and birds that fly. He crafted creatures big and small. Give thanks to God, who made us all! —Excerpt from God’s Wonderful Work.
Little Chick’s Bible, written by P. J. Lyons, is an adorable children’s preschool book that shares stories from the Holy Bible.
This yellow, white, and orange covered board book is soft, attractive, and fun. The smiling little chick is fuzzy soft, has moveable wings and beak, and is enclosed in felt front to back. (It’s even cuter and plusher than it appears in the photo.) The thick pages are sturdy—easy for little fingers to turn, difficult to tear or bend. Approximate size: 6.5”x7x5”.
The book is comprised of eight rhythmic, rhyming story poems depicting accounts from both the Old and New Testaments. The following passages are revealed:
God’s Wonderful Work (Creation, Genesis 1-2)
God’s Friend Noah (The great flood of Genesis 6-8)
Baby Moses in a Boat (Moses in the bulrushes, Exodus 1-2)
David Fights a Giant (David and Goliath, 1 Samuel 17)
God’s Greatest Gift (Christ’s birth, Matthew 1:18-24, Luke 2:1-7)
The Real Neighbor (The Good Samaritan, Luke 10:25-37)
It’s a Miracle (Feeding 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, John 6:1-13)
Jesus Opens Heaven’s Doors (Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, Luke 23:44-24:8)
The delightful full-page illustrations, created by Melanie Mitchell, coincide with each story-poem. They are detailed, colorful, and appropriate to capture young readers.
