One Sentence Storybooks

"The men in the boat saw Jesus walk on water."

Bible Favorites (One Sentence Storybooks), by Nancy I. Sanders, is a charming set of 10 mini-books intended to entertain, educate, and enlighten very young beginner readers.

These paperback learning booklets, approximately 5.5” x 7” in size, come stored in a lightweight cardboard box with a simple Velcro closure on the front. The size makes them easy for toddler hands to hold, but care needs to be taken that pages aren’t torn, for they are not thick like board books.

Numbered 1-10, each booklet contains an easy to understand graduating sentence, (one word on the first page, the same word plus a new word after the turn of the page, etc.)

Providing a satisfying conclusion to each story, the last pages of each book contain the following:

* One truth to learn (pertaining to the one sentence)
* One verse to say (a memory verse)
* One prayer to pray (an example relative prayer)
* Look back in the book (an interactive with things to look for on the previous pages, such as: point to something white, find two circles, etc.

The individual story booklets in this collection are drawn from 5 Old Testament and 5 New Testament stories:

* The Sun and Moon
* Two Mice and the Ark
* Moses and the Bush
* David and the Giant
* The City Wall
* The Star and the Kings
* Jesus on the Water
* The Good Shepherd
* The Sad Son
* The Angel and the Cave

The illustrations, created by Hannah Wood, are simplistic and engaging. Relevant to the story sentence, they are not only appealing to little eyes, but also fulfill the objective of the locating and deciphering objects revealed in the interactive section.
