Mud Puddle Hunting Day

I learned about Mud Puddle Hunting Day, written by Callie Grant, and illustrated by Melanie Magee, just in time for Christmas gift giving. This lovely children’s board book is reveals the magic created on rainy days. Why not go hunting for mud puddles?

Today is the day getting wet is okay. It’s a mud puddle hunting day!

This rhyming storybook follows a little girl’s trek from her home and into nature. Though it’s a rainy day, she leaves her umbrella at home, for this is a day she’s allowed to get wet. She excitedly hunts for hidden rain puddles, and finds exactly what she’s searched for.

All of God’s wonders look different for play on a mud puddle hunting day.

Each page includes colorful water-colored drawings of God’s beautiful creations—animals, bugs, gardens, and of course mud puddles, and a verse closes the story on the last page.

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.” Psalm 100:1, NIV

The short, rhyming phrases are rhythmic and entertaining.

To put it simply, this book is adorable! The illustrations are detailed and colorful, and the book’s message is pure. This is a lovely gift for children, parents, grandparents, Sunday school teachers, and caregivers.
