Whatever is Lovely (Coloring Book)

I love Whatever is Lovely, (a coloring book for reflection and worship) by WaterBrook Press! It is a Christian-themed coloring book with beautiful drawings, verses, phrases, and affirmations.  The pretty designs get my creative juices flowing, and the writings are inspiring, making it a fulfilling pastime.

This book is about worship. It’s about hearing from our God who only wants to spend time with us, to speak to us, and to grow us. This book is about taking holy meditation, creativity, and art and infusing it into our spiritual practices and quiet times to find a fresh and life-giving way to engage with our Heavenly Father. ~Excerpt from the introduction.

Introduction: In the beginning of the book is a brief introduction titled, Color Your Way to Peace. Psalm 46:10 states, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Spending quiet time is important, especially quiet time in fellowship with God. That is why this coloring book was created—to immerse our selves, creatively and spiritually, in meditation, reflection, and worship. What a beautiful premise for a book!

Craftsmanship: The softbound book has a smooth cover with gold-embossed title and crisp, sturdy white pages without bleed-through to the backside. The drawings are on the right side of pages, and a verse, quote, or some other kind of inspirational writing is on the left side, so you aren’t coloring on the backside of any coloring pages.

Suggestions: Some adult coloring books require using only coloring pencils or gel pens, due to the intricate designs. Even though some of these pages are intricate, there are many parts where using crayons are just as practical.

Bonus: In the back of the book there is a link for the Spotify playlist of songs to listen to while you make your art in Whatever is Lovely.
This book is a lovely way to spend unique, quiet time with God. I’m delighted to own it, and plan to frame some of these pages for colorful reminders to spend time in reflection, and to be still...
