Oh my! I just finished reading Keeping Her Close and I’m immersed in all kinds of f-e-e-l-s! And I just realized there are two prior books in this series that I. Must. Read.
Sometimes characters become so real that they seem like old friends. And sometimes a setting becomes so familiar that you are sad when you have to leave and are looking forward to revisiting again in the future. That’s the case with Kyle, Harper, and Pacific Cove.
Kyle is more than a former Navy Seal. More than a security specialist and trainer. He’s an outstanding man, with honor, integrity, and loyalty. Still, he has faults. His thoughts crowd his mind and his heart sometimes gets in his way.
Harper is adorable. Outwardly, she is a bubbly, kind, and upbeat girl who loves nature and photography. Inwardly, she sometimes struggles with trust and the effects and dangers of being the daughter of a wealthy scientist.
I won’t give you a synopsis of the story. I’ll just tell you that I grew to love Harper and Kyle, as well as the secondary characters. I sympathized with them both, and empathized with their emotions, fears, and setbacks. This story moved me. Keeping her Close is the first book I’ve read by Carol Ross, and I look forward to getting to know more of her wonderful characters.
