Review & Giveaway - 100 Extraordinary Stories of Prayer for Courageous Girls

I reviewed and was inspired by a previous book in the Courageous Girls book line in 2018. This newest Courageous Girls book, 100 Extraordinary Stories of Prayer for Courageous Girlsis just as stimulating, with a central focus on prayer life.

I would have loved books like this when I was young. The tales are short and inspiring examples of women throughout history that made a difference in the world through their strong prayer life.

The diverse women presented in this book range from Bible times to contemporary. Who wouldn’t want to emulate women like Esther, Ruth, and Anna (from the Bible) Mother Teresa(a nun and missionary) Maya Angelo (a poet and civil rights activist) Pandita Ramabai (an Indian social reformer) Shawn Johnson and Elena Meyers Taylor (Olympians) and countless other memorable world-changers?

One story that really speaks to me focuses on a former model and fashion blogger, Lauren Scruggs. (I first learned of her on the news in 2011, when she accidentally walked into a plane’s spinning propeller.) She was severely injured, ultimately losing an eye and hand, but she relied heavily on faith and prayer to get her through the trying times. Her tragedy gave her a new purpose, though. She now runs an organization for women who have lost their arms or legs, providing prosthesis with skin-like coverings. She is a wonderful example of how important prayer life is and how God can make wonderful things happen even out of our difficult times.

Every story is one page with a Scripture verse at the bottom, and a colorful, full-page illustration on the opposing page. The hardcover is pretty, the pages are sturdy, and it even has an attached ribbon bookmark. This book has a lovely presentation and provides priceless inspiration and encouragement for women of any age!
